Fashion Design Class at Allyse's Bridal

Today I taught a fashion design class at Allyse's Bridal and it was a blast! There were about 16 high school girls in the class. I taught them how to draw a basic croquis and then a couple of different techniques on how to draw clothing so it looks more realistic. I taught them using a 9 head croquis. I love this method because I believe that anybody can draw with it. As I expected, when we began, there were a couple of girls that were laughing at themselves or saying that they weren't very good at this under their breath. However, at the end, everyone had successfully draw a fashion croquis and even used it to design a dress.

I loved teaching the class. I would love to create a fashion design studio and teach people how to draw and design full time. That fits into my dream to create a fashion academy. I want to create a fashion academy where people can learn how to do every skill used in the fashion industry. There would be classes in fashion design, sewing, photography, modeling, fabrics, merchandising, etc. It would be for the community, so that high schoolers could use it as a kind of prep school to go to before applying to FIDM or FIT or Parson's.

Spring Fashion Show at the Provo Towne Centre Mall

This was the biggest fashion show I have put on at the Provo Towne Centre Mall. We had 8 different retailers participate: Downeast Basics, Aeropostale, Icing, Claire's, DEB, Urban Trends, Sears, and J.C. Penney's. J.C. Penney's wanted 40 different looks shown. Most of the stores pulled their own merchandise, but I styled all of the looks for JCP. This was the first show I have done where models changed into multiple outfits, and it was a success! The show was on March 16th, and we had a show at 10:00 and a show at 2:00. Here are some pictures from the show:

Church News Article

After the fashion show, I was interviewed by the Church News (by Michelle Garrett) about my career as a fashion designer and what I hope to do in the future. The Church News is a newspaper that is distributed worldwide, so it is my biggest news coverage yet. It just came out today!

BYU Fashion Show at the Mall

Part of the deal that J.P. offered when I was offered the job as Marketing Assistant for the Provo Towne Centre Mall was that I could do a fashion show of my collection at the mall after the BYU show.  That was last weekend! I had a couple of different people model for me in this show because some of my models weren't available. It was a huge success! There was a LARGE crowd, and it went really well! I had 5 other designers also participate in the show. Here is a picture of me with my collection after the show:
